Default New tires

I bought a 1990 Corvette and the right rear pass. tire has a nail in it. It is time to replace all the tires but I don't know what to buy.

I live in Florida so there is no snow to deal with, only rain. What is recommended by previous owners of tires?

Lots of good options in the 17" range.

There are some new brands from Korea that are so far, doing VERY well...great wear, good handling and EXCELLANT price...

Look at NeXen. Those sell for around $125 ea. There are a couple others that are similar..Riken, Sumitomo.

A GREAT stand by is always the BF Goodrich. I have had many of those and they always perform well and they are easy to find. Cost is more in the $175 range...

Then there are a bunch of performance brands...and there are some great tires but be ready to spend $1000+ for a set mounted and balanced.

Look to Pep_boys tires if there is on in your area. NTB or Discount tire will be able to get most of these..

My ONLY 2 thumbs down.....Yoko's....noisy like the ex wife. Rigid and harsh ride as well.

Exactly like the ex wife come to think about it..........

I've had good luck with Kumho and Pirelli also. Check out tirerack, they have BFG g-force for $137.

That's a good price for the BFG,. if I saw that locally I'd jump all over it.

If you're just cruising around, the Nexen and Kumho will be hard to beat. Me, I like Nittos.

Recently mounted a set of Kumho XS's.
Dry traction is like running on rails.
Wet traction ratings are good too.

I havent been there in a while but the best price I found for my 315/35/17 Sumitomo's was at a Mustang parts supplier, americanmuscle.com. At that time they had free shipping so they beat Tire Rack.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Before the guy mounts your new tires, look for a small paint spot somewhere close to the bead. This is put on by the manufacturer to line up with the Schrader valve and makes the tire easier to balance/ road force. Most Techs have no idea and just throw the tire on and then have to add extra weight that isnt necessary

Another vote here for Nexen N3000, they are the best tires for wet and dry grip i have ever had on my C4.
Wet and greasy roads do not mean you have to slip and slide all over the road trying to keep up with normal traffic, you can storm off at the traffic lights and leave everyone in your spray.

These tires out perform tires 3x or 4x as much.
Smooth and quiet is another plus.
