Default 89 c4 problems

Hello, I just bought an 89 corvette c4 and had some questions. The car will start and if I hold the gas(just a little) the car will stay running but as soon as I take my foot off the Gas the engine will die. The car still has power and what not after the engine dies. Also the MAF is not connected, but I know that's not the reason why the engine would shutoff. If anyone could also take a picture of their maf and how it is wired would be helpful.

Thanks in advance and all info and advice is welcome!

The MAF should have a connector going to it that would be fairly noticeable if it was disconnected and laying around. Maybe it was cut off if you do not see it. Also it would be a good idea to check your fuel pressure at idle (the best you can since it dies), while driving, and with just the key turned on.

I had the same problem and it was a bad fuel pump, it could be that or it could be something else. Who knows

not seeing a MAF single would be a very good reason why if will not maintain idle

Without the signal from the maf sensor the ecm has way less information to work with to keep the engine running correctly....You can tune around the maf sensor to eliminate it, but the car will never idle or run as well as with it..The maf sensor is a critical input , get that maf sensor working correctly and it could solve your problem.....WW

I would take a quick gander at the IAC valve and verify that it isn't froze/clogged up. I don't believe the MAF is causing it to stop running. Just my .02

I took the throttle body off so I could take a look at the IAC and the TPS. Well the bottom of the throttle body is pretty nasty, i went to unscrew some of the screws to look at the IAC and 3 screw heads snapped off :[ So i ordered a new throttle body. So waiting on the new one to get in.
