Default red/black wire

my 85 vette....found a factrory wrapped harness...1 red,1 black cut, laying under the drivers side they come through at the firewall with the two cables that open the hood right above the two cables....factory wrapped at that end too...but are also cut....anybody know what they were for???? far as I know, everything works...

Don't recall any factory wires run through that grommet on any of my cars.
Is a convenient place for anyone wanting to put aftermarket wires through the firewall

That's not factory. All connections go through the firewall through connector C100 (the giant connector behind the battery) or the bulkhead feedthrough behind the passenger side head.

Sounds like a power, and ground wire for an aftermarket amp. They just did a nice job wrapping them, and fooled you. h

could be...the tape is just as old the the other wraps and looks similar...could have used them for my fan switches....

just to end this thread...I put my reading glasses on...po poke a small hole in cable grommet and wrapped wires...same black tape as the factory....very old tape too...fooled me....would have used them for my two fan switches if i'd seen them before....thanks for the responses....
