Default Maximum "Streetable" horsepower

what do you guys think would be the limit on horsepower (at the engine) for a car that is driven fairly often?

if it's a 383 built for nitrous, I'd say 700 easy (w/ NOS)....henessey 650r's are pretty streeable, too.....as long as they stay together.

hehe, yeah, that is because thats 650 Hennessey hp, if you measure it in actual non-bs real world hp it is probably more like 400hp.

Seriously, I'd say 500-600 for a manual trans car.

I would say it has to do a lot with the drive of said car. My dad could handle a lot more power than I could. He is that much better of a driver & MUCH more layed back than I am. I still like playing to much, which with tons of power can lead to trouble quickly.

Note to self: Why am I doing this engine work

Depends on how the HP is made. A normally aspirated 700 hp engine would be unstreetable. But 700 TT wouldn't be too bad, depending on the boost level and displacement.

Now if it were a Supra TT, then 1000+ easy. :jester

I know of two cars I'd LOVE to own. One is a friends 1990 IROC 1LE with a Lingenfelter 434 Small Block N/A 93 octane powered 18* Head 640 HP Monster that runs like STINK and laughs at 90 degree days like this(Of course like any other hi-po car it's down a little on power due to the hot humid air) but what a car! You'd never know it either! As John L Himself said "Yeah, She's wicked" :D

The other is forum member Bill C's boost controlled 99 FRC LPE-TT. It ran over 134 MPH on LOW BOOST was driven to and from the track and even drove from Indiana @LPE to Maryland with over 590 RWHP(once again, Low Boost).

Yes, I'm partial to Lingenfelter cars(Seeing I also own one) and they're my favorite street monsters. Mine's ok...but I'm already bored with the 440 crank hp. Too much power is just right :D

Answering the question....Not too sure what the right power is for the street. Steve from texas has an LPE-FRC that goes 9.2's@151(Awesome quick time video) and is completely streetable through catalytic convertors  Thats a tough question to answer :D

Terry Dorsey is driving his 780 hp C4 on the Stars & Stripes tour. He lives in Portland, Oregon, and he going all the way to NYC! It has a ProCharger blower on it.
