Default water soaked engine

I recently installed a 515 crane cam, spring and roller rockers in my 93 lt1. it has Hooker com+ headers w/full flowmaster, chipped, K&N filter.
Other than turning the idle up to 900 rpm it needed nothing but driving. (THEN)
The parking lot at work flooded and by the time I got to it there was a foot and a half of water around it. I pushed it out and it took about a minute but it finally started and after another minute it ran fine. (NOW)
On cold start it will go to 1,500 rpm than drop off slowly to stall. Once run for a while it runs great, idles good and pulls hard to almost 6 grand. after warm up if I shut it off it won't idle untill I keep it running for only half a minute then its fine again. If I turn on the air it stalls right away unless I'm driving or keep the revs up.
Befor the water she ran perfect. What he hell is going on, I'v driven about 1,500 miles now and hasn't changed at all.

Sounds like you drown the opti.

When my opti went it ran like **** and wouldn't go over 4,000 rpm and stalled all the time. This thing runs great when warm, but the opti had to get wet, the water was up to my knee's. Why would it run so good?

Default Can anyone help?

Car got worst at idle so I took the opti out. Was a lot of soot inside and # 1 and 3 conections on cap were black. Cleaned distributer added new cap, new wires and plugs. Still doesn't want to idle but runs nice and smoth after idle and performance is incredable. Seems like its running to rich at idle.
Even thou I cleaned the opti could it be bad now?
Could it be the O2 sensors. The exhaust was full of water.
I'm lost,,, is there any help out there??

Have you thought about hooking it up to a scanner.. That would show you a full readout of what's going on in the engine , if something isn't working right it can be pinpointed by someone who knows how to read the data....WW

I didn't think the obd1 would tell much about that.
I really don't know anyone with a scanner anyway.
