Re: Officially stopped using Mobil One Today (PeteL)
Sorry, I've been at the cape all day.
It's dino oil,
Three reasons actually,
First with a 130k 55k of which are very hard miles I've been pushing some oil by the rings. So I'm going with the thicker oil to reduce this problem
Second, I've heard that the additives that Valvoline uses in there VR series oil is much better espicially for high HP engines. I'm not in that range yet but what the hell
Thrid, It's still very expensive for dino oil but it is 1/2 the price of Mobil One.
I still will use Mobil One when running road courses because I believe that Mobil One is way better when heat comes into play.
Re: Officially stopped using Mobil One Today (87TRex)
Allright I'll join in too. What the F#*k are you thinking man?!? I use 20-50 in the summer as well, but Valvoline can't hold a candle to Mobil 1. That's a proven fact. Let us know what you're thinking. :U
How was it proven to be better, I'd like to see the data. When I pulled the heads on my Vette at about 110k there was so little wear you could still see the cross hashes in the cylinder walls. I took my heads to the machine shop and they could believe that they had over 100k because the were in perfect shape. I can tell you the first 75k the Vette never saw Syn. oil it was switched to Mobil One at about 75k.
Re: Officially stopped using Mobil One Today (L98Terror)
Haven't you seen that commercial where they cook two pans of oil on the stove. There's your data! What more proof do you need? As Bo Roberts says "They couldn't print it, if it weren't true." :jester
Re: Officially stopped using Mobil One Today (shera)
Dino oil WILL NOT handle the high temperatures generated by our Vette motors. Changing to a Dino because of oil use is masking a symptom. Motors are designed to use oil, particularly under hard running. Higher viscosity oil will not lub all the small little places needed. To make a long story short, don't believe what you see on TV...look at the facts. Sure Synth is more expensive...but is does a significantly better job.
