L98 REAR WATER X-OVER
Anyone know if the passages thru the rear of the manifold needs to be open or closed for best cooling ?
I bought a gasket set from GM that has the steel block plate with a small hole in it but the old felpro set had no block plate.
Should I remove the block plate and let coolant flow freely thru the intake ?
The engine is an 86 cast iron head Vette L98.

When I pulled apart my aluminum head '87 the stock gaskets had the rear passages blocked off with as you said. My felpro gaskets have them completely open. Temperature levels appear to be about the same now as they were before.
