If I remember... small hands work best! Remove the dist. cap. I think I held both parts of the connector in one hand and used a screwdriver to carefully separate them in the other hand. Not sure if I removed the oil pressure sending unit or not. It's one of those things that takes patience.

I disconnected, adjusted, then reconnected my '87 EGR temp switch. It pulled apart easily enough but getting it back was tricky. IIRC it was just a contortionist, one hand, operation---big hand in a small space.

I found it VERY difficult to get the connector apart. I used a screwdriver from the driver's side to push on it.

I put silicone grease on it to make it easier. When I had the distributor out I rerouted the wires to make it more accessible. Now it comes apart easily and I don't have any trouble getting to it.

I found an old plug and used the male end from the old temp switch and made a 6" extension. No problems now.
