Have you tried to retrofit a ZR1 alternator? That should solve your alternator problems.

Brian, how about upgrading the wirring and running a real fuse instead of a fusable link?

I only ask because this is what I want to do since mine is apart and I have the iceburg 140 amp alt. I have not had any problems with the wirring though, just want to put in a sound system, etc...

Don't you need a larger pulley to underdrive the alt?? Smaller should turn it faster yet.

LT5FIRE
I don't think that would fit, what's the rating on it?

bill mcdonald:
I put a 200amp in place of a 130, big jump.
If the rectifier was limited to 130 it would have been OK, but since it was rated for 200 it jumped up there full blast as soon as the battery was drained down.

I was going to put a smaller pulley on the engine, but that probably better.

I might run a duct to it, so the alternator not breathing air straight off the exhaust manifold  it sucks in air from the back and blows out the front.

It will fit. You just need to trim the "ear" a bit. I think it has a rating of 120.
These alternators perform great under high-reving, hot enviroments.

Yeah the ZR-1 Alternator is a CS-144 (124amp) piece.
