Yesterday I went to pop the hood to check for a vacuum leak (for another problem I was working on) and wasn't able to release the latch on the driver side. The slack in the cable under the dash told me I was in trouble!! After doing some research and getting dimensions, I made an emergency release tool, which did the trick and got me in. I found my problem was a broken clip which holds the cable to the release arm, as seen here:
Does anyone know where I can get these clips? Google and Bing searches turn up nothing except that Eckler's did carry it at one time but it has been discontinued. I do not want to buy new cable just to get the clips...my old cable is fine.
on Indys craiglist, there is a guy selling parts off his 84. Also, there is a guy down in Seymore that has a 91 parts car. Just type in corvette, or vette, and the 84 parts car ad will pop up.
Buying new cables won't do any good..The clips weren't included with the new cables..Get in touch with "OneRareZ16" he helped me with some small parts for my 89...Below is the web site , they're good people to deal with...WW
Start with a call to your local GM dealers. It's not been discontinued long, they either might have or can locate at a dealer near you. In your area I would think there are multiple dealers with stock. Several!

Wow, that is FANTASTIC information, thank you! I will be on the phone with my parts guy putting him to work 1st thing tomorrow morning

i need one of those too, can you let us know where you do ending up getting one from and how much ?
Funny you should ask, I was just getting ready to post my findings!
Yesterday I acted on the tip from WVZR-1 above, I checked with my parts guy at the dealership for part number 12338122 and found 2 here locally in Indianapolis. Although this part has been discontinued, there is still stock on some of the dealership shelves. I paid $3.44 per clip (retail is $4.58).
Davies Corvette sells the same clip for $14.95...talk about a markup!

In my post I mentioned the higher quantity production GM cars that used the same hardware and if you've access to some mid to late '70 GM salvage you could maybe help yourself locally. You also have a couple vendors there that do GM/OE. It's possible they could help if you supply the number. If you've a contact here in the US have them do a buy and do the ship.
I just bought 5 of those clips at my local gm dealer, they are still out there, 12338122 GM
that is still agood gm # I bought mine from a caddy dealer. I paid $3.47 each. good luck
