Default engine performance

i have a 1994 coupe with 75k on it last 2 years can not find a problem or cause .when on highway on longer drives and come into traffic and have to slow down and then try to regain speed it has bad hesitation and it sounds like it has knocking sound.it happens around45 to 55 miles mph and i have to regain speed slowly until i get beyond that speed, i cant just punch it.has anybody had this problem or may have any ideas.just changed fuel filter cleaned air intakes also my guy found a vacume line leak. thank you for any help

Check your EGR, it may be stuck open a bit.

I'd agree to check EGR... And what about the IAC? Maybe it's sticking open when you transition back to throttle? .. Just a thought...

Take the car and fix it yourself , if the mechanic is frustrated then he is not doing the best.
