I have a ZR1 1991 that was originally delivered to Canada. The headlights are always open and on while driving in daytime. Is this because the car is a Canadian delivery? If so, can it be changed so the lights only open and go on at dusk or night? Or disconnected from the light sensor on the dash and be operated manually only? If it is not due to being a Canadian ZR1, then any ideas what might be causing the headlights to open and be on during daytime driving? Lights will not open and go on until the emergency brake is released.

Reason: Adding information
I would say yes there should be a way you can get them to work only when you turn them on not automatically. Sounds like they are wired into the start system some how What good are hide away head lights if you can't hide them away. Itis because it's Canadian. I am not sure if there version of the FSM would be different then the ones used here or if Canadian only information is included.

RPO code T61 is for Day time running lights which it appears Canadian
cars did have.
If you look under your center console storage lid you should see T61.
Normal operation is in day light, only the front turn signal bulbs should light.
When the ambient light sensor located in the dash pad shown in the
picture indicates low light, it turns off the turn signal bulbs. It then turns on the parking lights and the headlights.
So if you do have T61 and the headlights and parking lights are turning on during day light, either the ambient light sensor is bad or it's blocked.
Thanks, I'll check it out. The sensor is not covered. Probably bad. Car has been stored for a year or so with a cover on it. It seemed to work OK when I uncovered it and drove it a bit and then the lights opened and the problem has continued since...
