Code read

I been trying to read codes out of the ecm of my 86 . but no light come up on the dash.

I did follow the instructions on this page

any ideas

Does the light turn on when you first turn the key on to start the car and then go off when the engine starts?
If not check the bulb?

A friend of mine recently said the same thing. Hooked up my Autoxray XP240, and connected right up. These can be found on fleabay for under $100 and everyone with a Corvette should have one.

never see that light come up. yes maybe the buld most be out

There are brand new Auto X-Ray Automotive Scanner XP240 Pro Packs right now going for $60 on a "Best Offer"deal. They are advertised for $100 "Buy It Now" but he will sell em at $60. I just bought one on your recommendation. If anybody needs an OBD1 specific scanner, these are a great deal and the seller is top notch.

I bought a scanner at local parts store. It reads out codes great. And will be very useful on OBDII equipped cars.

A code reader is different from a scanner. A scanner reads the actual output value for devices, and ECM values such as BLM counts. This is very helpful when you have issues that don't set codes.

To the Xray guys: Congratulations, and if you're mass air make your first adjustment the TPS, and set it to .60. Factory is .54, but .60 give it slightly more fuel at tip in.

Got mine today after paying Friday. This seller is top notch!! The 240 looks like an excellent scanner that will cover everything needed with our OBD1 cars. Cant beat the $60 price tag!
