Default Anyone DE-stroke there motor?????

Hey Guys... I was wondering if anyone on the Board DE-stroked there 350 down to a 302 or anything like that to get a nice revving engine. Throw a Mini-Ram on that, a 6-spd, nice solid roller set up. Forged Crank, billet rods, nice pistons..... Revs are always good! This is just out of curiosity.

It should work just fine.
Ive owned several 302s,& had a friend with one that would turn 10,000 rpm!
Ive considered it but Ive an auto tranny,The 302 doesnt have much low end torque which a 302 doesnt have and an auto trans needs.

CHP did a series of articles on the 377 vs 383. The 377 was a 3.xx" stroke and 4.xx" bore. The 383 was a 4" bore and 3.75" stroke. If I remember correct, the 377 didn't do as well as the 383. I guess in the end, there's no sub for cubes.

Yea.... 10,000 Rpms is a whole lot!!! And so damn cool if you ask me. You can gear the hell out of it too. Throw in some 5.XX's. That will make up for the torque. I think this would be cool.... How well does the Mini Ram flow??? Where does it start to lose its breathe?

Silver and Red.... I mean taking a 350 and making it less such as a 327, 302..... To get a high revver. There are plenty of arguements why to go bigger like 383, but RPMs are nice too....

I think there is more to be lost destroking due to fewer cubic inches than gained due to rpms.

Example...I've never heard of anyone doing it except Chevrolet in a late model.

Cool-sure, fast-no.

About 15 years ago I was looking into building a 400 small block with a 350 crank. But now that I understand what torque is all about, I would use an even bigger not smaller crank than stock.

destroking is the perfect solution... when your racing class has cubic inch limits. well, one of 2 perfect solutions, the other being to cheat.

Well... I figure, I can make up for the torque loss with some really sweet gears considering 6 spd and a high redline.... Im not saying Im doin it... its just curiosity.....

the 350 is the best of both worlds motor. It offers great torque and high rpm capabilities. I think a stout LT1/4 at 350-360 CI would be awesome. Build it right though, forged internals, zero deck to get the quench, and a nice cam. This can easily yeild 450hp and totally emission legal.
cheers,
Robert

oops! you have a 1991. Then I would do a fastburn headed 350 beast and achieve the same numbers with EASE!!!!
