Hardtop for a Vert problem
I just bought a used hardtop for my '91 convertible. The top was purchased with no attaching hardware.
I know the 2 bolts in the windshield are already in the car. I assume the two attaching points mear the seatbelt retractors, behind the seats, take a bolt (the clue was the trreaded mounting plate).
But what in the world holdes the rear down?
Is there some sort of bolt that goes where the pin fits into the rear decklid? Or do I I purchase the same type pins that are on the cloth top that snap into the rear decklid?
Someone with a factory hardtop for their convertible please help me! I'm so
Thanks in advance,
C44EVER
The rear should have the bolts in the hardtop already. Look at your decklid. Notice the two areas were the cloth top latches on to it. When you put your hardtop on you should align the two pins on the hardtop to the latches on the decklid. Then hit your "convertible top release" latch that you use to open the clothtop with. The hardtop should sit flat, don't force it down. Then you use a 7mm ratchet to lighty bolt them in. It's impossible to lose the bolts on the back. If you shake the hardtop you should hear rattles from the bolts.

In addition to all the bracketry and mounting wrenches, another item you should always ask for when purchasing a second hand auxillary hardtop is the rear shelf trim panel. It really adds a nice finishing touch, and it gives you a spot to place small items.
