car wont run with est disconnected

ive done this 3 times now. i get the dizzy in perfect. and then itll start up instantly but as soon as i disconnect the red/pink/est wire it dies.

My 87 has a tan/black stripe EST wire. Are you sure you have the correct wire ?

Wait, you're setting it and THEN disconnecting it? That's backwards. Disconnect, then set.

its a redish wire that has the correct connecter for the battery post on the dizzy and then i have the tach filter on the other one marked tach

this pink wire is the only thing i can find that will attach to the dizzy and was hooked up to the hei when th ecar was carbed im hunting for this tan wire

No you are disconnecting power to the dizzy.Near the wiper motor or a little lower is the Tan wire connector it is a 2.5 inch black plastic you pull apart. It goes to the ecm to retart the timing if there is some knock in the engine.
