I changed the rear hubs and bearings last weekend, by myself lying on my back, hand tools. Grease, blood, and 11 hours later they were done.
Got rid of some of the noises, still clanging around back there. Halfshaft u-joints. Tears....
Called some driveshaft shops, no one will touch it, cause it's a Corvette.
Injury's are all healing, I'm under it again this weekend I guess. I've read as many of the descriptions as I can, it doesn't seem too difficult, but it always seems to take me longer than anybody else.
Just tell me I can do it, it's easy! I believe everythinghttp://forums.corvetteforum.com/images/smilies/hide.gif you guys say....
You'll be surprised how easy this job is! If you've done that much work on your rear hubs, this will be a piece of cake. As you know, the half shafts are the lower control element for the suspension. After removing the u-joint clamps, pull outward on the bottom of the tire, and the half shaft practically falls out!

Did both of mine, by myself and i had never worked on a corvette before.. also did the main driveshaft. it seemed like it was more difficult than the half shafts.. I also bought a extra pair of half shafts of ebay,, which i put new joints in,, so next time it will be even faster.
Not difficult at all. Would have been even easier if you would have changed them when you had the rear hubs off. It's a zero blood-loss job. Build up your blood reserve for when you change your plugs and wires.
Did the plugs and wires when I did the opti and water pump a couple months back. You are right! The designer of those wire loom holders is one brutal ##$$^^.
