I know... ideally someday I'd like to do: Hot Cam kit, have heads ported/polished, intake machined to match heads, put on ram air system, Hooker long tubes, Random bullet cats, Magnaflow cat-back system, 52mm TB, chip tuning. I think the above ought to be good for about 60 - 75hp gain.
What are some stock performance numbers? 0-60....1/4 times?
I know that the hp is 330, but I cant seem to find the torque in any of my books. Thanks ahead of time :)
Its actually 350hp, because most of them dyno 300rwhp. GM underrated them so as not to upset 97 LS1 owners (which had 345hp). TQ should be about the same. 1/4 mi times from alot of the guys here are high 12's.
The LT4 performance numbers seem to very for each one made. GM tried to downplay its performance, due to the C5s coming out the following year. A post in the Corvetteactioncenter.com site showed results from Auto Perfromance Test Labs in Atlanta GA. They tested 125 LT4s and found that 0-60 times averaged at about 4.8 seconds. Horsepower ranged from 330 to 385 on stock LT4s. By adding a Hot cam to an LT4 can add about 20 hp at the wheels with everything else stock.
Auto mags stated performance numbers at 330 hp, 5.1, 5.2 0 to 60. Some people believe GM provided "lesser" LT4's to the mags so the 96 didn't "steal the thunder" of the C5.
Ask any LT4 owner, their stock car will run ahead of a LS1 C5 until about 110 mph, then the C5 passes and pulls away. Do some minor mods, and stay ahead the entire way!!!
I did some work on a friend of mines car.a 1995 TA, LT1 car. I put cnc ported LT4 heads on it from scoggin-dickey,got a LT4 intake, and had it ported by Pete at CNC Cylinder Heads, used the LT4 hot cam, roller rockers, headers and a good exhaust, and a generic Hypertech program(headers&cam). The car made 362rwhp and 351 rwtq. Thats close to 440 hp at the flywheel.
LT4's can definitly rock.
