TV cable and transmissions problems
I just want to make sure that all of my options are exhausted before I do that.
My TV cable is kinked/bent as you can see in the photos and I also noticed that there is alot of play in the cable (exposed part of cable). Most of the the slack does come out when I open the throttle linkage.
Is everybodys tv cabel that loose?
I did reset the tension twice following the instructions from the Helms Manual, that didn't seem to help.
Should I ratchet the cable one click at a time going toward the fire wall to see if that helps? (ratchet one, go test drive...ratchet one, go test drive ETC.)
Should I invest in a new cable?
Looking for any help or similar scenarios you've encountered.

...hey, does the behavior change with your floor mat removed?
I noticed that my when tranny needed rebuilding, it WOULD shift down from 4th to third, but it was 'lazy' shifting back to fouth afterwards.

The TV cable only sets the line pressure at part throttle. Which controls the shift point and firmness.
I hope you don't need a rebuild, but the description points in that direction.
Drop the pan and see if there is any clutch material in there, that will tell you for sure.
Not too sure what to make of that. If you like, give my tranny guy a call. He built my last one,and it survived over 21,000 miles behind my 383. His name's grant 203.933.0053 Tell Him I sent you.

I have looked at your picture...and right away buddy...your cable is not correct....first that kink and bind is not looking too good...but I honestly don't think that is your problem....you see....
You cable is not adjusted correctly....so do this...
Push in that little button on the box just below where you see the kink.....ok..now....take and pull the cable all the way toward the windshield on your car.....so that the black little plunger thingy is almost inside the beginning to that box...ok...now....take and hold that button in WHILE HOLDING THE CABLE...its gonna wanna pull forward....hold it back....ok.....while doing this.....have someone push open the accerator to WOT.....the steel cable inside that plastic housing your holding onto very tightly...is gonna move and click all by itself....when its done, you should end up with the plunger thingy being just about flush with the beginning of that box.....(for you this is about 1/2 inch further inside to where it is right now)....
if it does not end up being or working out like this...then something is wrong and get a new TV cable put in and adjusted in this manner...
bottom line is you have to have that plunger thing almost flush to the beginning of the box...
this is absolute reset....and I can see yours is way far off....this is gonna result in low tv pressure..and eventually burned up tranny....not too mention....your tranny must be shifting pretty strangly.....your first gear shift at minimum throttle...(like just touching the pedal) should be 8-15 mph usually 9 or 10....
anything else I can assist you with let me know....Iam just finally getting mine to shift right...and this tv cable seems to be the key......its like the slightest little adjustement is huge response to the way the tranny operates.....
hope this helps

VetteNoob, what do you do to fine tune it? Rachet the cabe one click at at time and go test drive.
