Default head swap

I replaced the stock heads on my 1992 LT1 corvette with elderbrock heads. They were supposed to be a easy swap. The problem now is the manifold bolts won't line up.The reason for the change is I let my son use it while I was on vacation he over heated the motor and worped the heads.

Which Edelbrock heads did you get?

Are the holes in the intake just a tiny bit off?, or is it the angle of which the bolt goes in?

I don't have an LT1 intake, so I don't know what the bolt pattern is on them, but if you have the regular "old style" intake bolt pattern on the head, (which I believe most aftermarket heads are), you may have to do some grinding on the intake. Here's a quote to an answer to a similar question: (should be able to click on it to take you to the page)

"1986 is when they changed the angle of the center intake manifold bolts, it's the same year they switched from perimeter bolt valve covers to center bolt covers. If you want to use a 1986 up intake on older heads, you can enlarge the bolt holes with a die grinder or dremel tool so the bolts can be inserted at the proper angle."

Sounds like you have Lt4 heads and Lt1 heads, with the bolt holes are higher up you have lt4 heads and need a lt4 intake

I bought LT1 edelbrock performer heads 61909,the motor has never been apart. When I called tech service he said maybe Chevrolet did something to the motor when they put it together???If I have to change intakes I will but I don't build a pile of new parts I can't use.

I'm running the same heads with their air gap intake. The only issue I had was the casting on the intake interfered with the fuel rail mounting. So I got out the grinder and fixed it.

Sorry, but I never tried them with the stock intake manifold.

I used Fel-Pro #1074 for the head gaskets and GM# 12367777 for the intake manifold gasket.

I also used an ARP bolt kit to mount the heads and torqued per their instructions.

Out of curiosity other then the car over heating....What indication was there that the heads were warped before confirming when removed?

Have you tried calling Edelbrock? I had good luck with their customer service.

Silly question I'm sure, but are you positive they didn't send you the LT4 heads? The LT4 intakes are different from the the LT1, the only reason I'm asking.

I haven't called about the fuelrail holes not lining up.After the motor over heated the radiator had to be replaced we did that got it running and started blowing white smoke out the exhaust Pulled the heads off used a straight edge and could see the bend.Called elderbrock and asked if the performer heads could be used with all the factory equipment he said yes but not with LT4 .Installed the LT1 heads and the factory intake doesn't bolt on.Called elderbrock if I buy elderbrock intake will everything fit from my factory intake yes so here I am the fuelrail bolt holes don'line up.
