My coilovers are rubbing up against my half shafts. I had the top mounts modified rewelded and relocated a half inch. Any thoughts in remedying this? Opinions?
In another similar install with the same issue a washer was added at the lower shock mount. I don't recall the ID now of the shock mount but I'm quite sure I have some notes with it. I believe the upper mount dimension was 5/8 vs 1/2 but I recall others that did the 1/2 and were happy with the results. I'll check with the fellow whose install it was. It was maybe a year + ago.
I have a lower shock mount I believe I can use for dimensions and post back.
*** I needed to ask if you were using the OE lower mount OR if you've purchased maybe an after-market lower mount for the shock.
Which did you use?
I gave mine about a half turn and the rubbing stopped, permanently. The problem is that they are just SO close that a minuscule adjustment makes a big difference.

That can certainly work and it would be the first try.
Here's a thread that mentions the 5/8" - 3/4" dimension for the top shock movement forward. He mentions he tried the 1/2" also.
Funny thing is that it only makes noise in reverse. I don't notice it in drive
Wrap your half-shafts with vinyl tape in the areas where there seem to be issues and go for a ride. First maybe just a drive on good highways and check, do another drive on maybe rougher surfaces. Maybe a more spirited drive if it passes a conventional drive.
Maybe just use a spray bomb and check for issues. Might be easier.
I would think that if you have issues in just a single direction, in this case reverse you might just need to re-bush the rear suspension. The 4 knuckle links in particular. The paint or tape test should justify that.
