Debating... Carsound Vs. Random Tech Cat...
I have been really researching this....and I dunno guys...
bang for the buck....the carsound almost looks like it is as good as the Random Tech...but is almost half the price!
carsound best price found: $112
Random Tech: $228
The Carsound website....although prolly bias has got a chart on it...comparing them to Random Tech....the two converters almost look like they flow the same...
Re: Debating... Carsound Vs. Random Tech Cat... (Danger Dave)
A few guys here use the carsound cats.
I don't know anything about them. If the are shape the same they most likely flow about the same or close enough.

I'm sure the difference is unoticeable. I myself got a RT...only because I got in here for $90 :D I would probably have bought a carsound though. Did you check Summit or Jegs?
Re: Debating... Carsound Vs. Random Tech Cat... (XtremeVette)
Random has quite a few different cats and flow 528+ on their higher end bullit cats. I don't know which model carsound was using to do thier test. I think you will be fine with either one, I went with Random because they have a really good buld quality and I needed a very small cat.

Sounds good to me. Thanks, I didn't know of Carsound brand.
Do you know if it is the 2 1/4" one that is the correct one for you? One of those and a same size flange, that should do it? I am asking because mine is a '91 so it should be the same size than your '90.

Yeh....something I found out....and am going to check on by measuring tomorrow...is that on my 1990.....the main cat is a 3 inch in and out.....regardless of what size front or rear Y pipe....the Y's all are 3 inch at the end.....they are 2.25 or 2.5 after the connection...
like i said....I want to measure this tomorrow to be sure....

You guys might want to give Chris@Speed Demon a call. Last time I checked, the Carsound Generic cats for a LT-1 were $99. They won't work on an Auto though. I'll be getting two new Carsound cats on mine while it's down there.

Re: Debating... Carsound Vs. Random Tech Cat... (R94 LT 1)
yeh....SAD NEWS...... just found out...that the price advertising was indeed for generic cats on a STANDARD TRANNY CAR.....first off NOT A CORVETTE and second...NOT AN AUTOMATIC.....
for us bums....the price shoots up to $199 bucks....shoot for that price I can get the Random Tech for $228
Re: Debating... Carsound Vs. Random Tech Cat... (XtremeVette)
I've been looking at those too. I'll probably go with the RT because they have a direct fit for an LT1 auto. So no hassles with the install.
Just FYI, Carsound is the parent company for Magnaflow. They've been around for a while. Just don't have the name recognition of some of the other companies. They've also gone heavy into the small car market. Kids with the imports know who they are :D
