Ok guys, I have a 90 model and have owned 2 LT1 f-bodies so I'm familiar with the platforms but have a few questions on the cooling. My Mom's 92 vert (6 speed :D ) is having some cooling issues. I noticed that the drivers side fan is not turning on even when coolant temp hits 240+ degrees. The car gets as hot as 250degrees in traffic with ac on. I have allready removed a BUNCH of crud from the radiator. That was the first thing I checked, having a 90 model myself. It has plenty of water/antifreeze. I swapped the fan relays also to see of one was bad but the passenger side fan works on either relay. Sounds like possibly a bad fan motor. Any ideas or suggestions?

"The passenger side fan is not on up to 240". There you have it. Both fans should come on when the AC is on. I had a fan motor go out last year also.
240-250 is too hot.
Re: LT1 owners, cooling problem or ???? (92corvette)
I have a Chiltons and a Haynes manual but I'm too lazy to look up the LT1 stuff. Both fans are not on when the ac is on so it may be a bad fan. I'm putting the radiator back in now as we speak. I wanted to clean it good a second time just to make sure and I wanted to put in a 180 deg thermostat as well, the old one was a 180 deg too(couldnt tell till I got it out) so I guess I'll take this one back.
Re: LT1 owners, cooling problem or ???? (red90sixspeed)
My main fan had a plastic back all rolled up into a ball wedged between the radiator and the fan, burned the fusable link.
The car would get up to about 230-240 in traffic.
After cleaning the radiator, blown tank, and refilling with 70% water 30% antifreeze, and a bottle of water wetter, getting a new fan motor and installing a 30 amp maxi fuse in place of the fusable link, the car runs at 202-210 in traffic with the air on, comes right back to 198 - 200 with in 4 or 5 blocks of 45 mph running. I feel much better about it now.
