I running the superram setup 89 L98 and I have a small problem now. The car will start perfect when it is cold, but when I drive it for a while and shut it off it will not start up without cranking over & over. I also relocated the MAT senor when I installed the setup. I am thinking this might be part of the problem, moving it back is a lot of work. Just looking for some thoughts on this because the relocation of the MAT looks like a normal change.
MAT sensor shouldn't do that. Are you reusing your stock injectors? Are they the originals? Perhaps they are leaking when hot. This is a rather common thing to happen.
Stock injectors are being used. I am going to move the MAT back. I don't know why I moved it in the first place. I relocated it on a 88 TA and the same thing happened.
You have something wrong in the fuel system. When the engine is hot do you hear the pump turn on when you first turn on the key? What it sounds like it happening is the pump is not priming, and it is not turning on until the ECM sees that the engine is spinning then starts the pump.
Sounds like a leaking injector letting the engine flood out, and when it's cold, well, the gas fro the injectors leaking is already evaporated out.
Either that or a bad fuel pump relay and the fuel pump not turning on until you build up oil pressure and the oil pressure switch bypasses the pump relay.
Do you smell any fuel when it is hot and won't start?
It do sound like fuel pressure problem such as fuel pp ckt or injector leakdown.
Turn on the key, listen for the pump to run, turn off key 10 sec and do again. This should get the pressure up and if the car starts fine this would indicate pressure leakdown.
If it does not start fine, may be as said before a circuit problem allowing you only fuel pp operation via oil pressure switch.
I've got the same problem...I was writeing it off as a problem with a heat soaked intake. After the car gets hot, the Superram gets too hot to touch. (like 100 degree days) So are there folks out there that, after driving for a bit on a really hot day...then stopping for 20-30 mintues, will have the car fire right up?

Mine does.
Hmmm. I've noticed since I changed out the 24 lb injectors for the 30 lb ones that the fuel pressure bleeds down within two to three minutes. Further, when cranking (and cranking) I'll get a low oil pressure light, then it goes out, then the car fires (low oil lockout)
Yep, mine does too! Although, I do have a pressure leakdown problem I have never resolved. However, I can hold pressure for an hour or so. It's not a big issue, I just build it up by hitting the key a couple of times and I'm off.
Yes the SR will get warm, underhood heat is common to all during the summer.

Mine fires right up after short trup in these 100 degree days. I dont seem to have this leak down condition with my accell 24 injectors. But will watch for it. I cant say that my plenumn ever gets that hot that I can't touch it. The headers are a different story though.
