Default '91 ZF Clutch Bleeding Problem

I just replaced my master and slave cylinder on my '91. I thought bleeding would be straightforward. I've followed to book (open bleed screw, push clutch in, close screw, release clutch pedal etc.) My wife's leg is about to fall off from pushing. Tried using my Mighty-Vac. nothing seems to work. Seems the fluid level in the master stays pretty much the same Am I missing something? (I posted this in the tech. area, but I'm desperate!)

Simple, its not like the brakes. The clutch is a self bleeder. Open the bleeder and remove the master cylinder top. Leave it open until fluis starts to come out of it, do not pump the pedal to speed it up. Once you have fuid coming out of the bleeder go ahead and tighten it. Now just pump the clutch pedal until you have a pedal, it should not take long. Make sure the master cylinder does not run out of fluid while you are doing this.

and if that does not do it, use a thing called a Pheonix Tool. It will force fluid up from the slave to the master.

With the bleeder on the bottom, I've had to turn the slave cylinder upside down to bleed it.It's hard to get all the air out without doing this.

Thanks for the suggestions, However I've opened the bleeder (almost removed it completely) Filled the master cylinder to the brim, left the lid off, and two hrs. later the fluid level hasn't dropped one iota? Can someone describe the Phoenix tool? I may have to thry to find one on a Sunday, as I need the car for work on Monday :mad

See my reply to your other simular post - it contains my easy one man (but better with a helper) bleed method for the Corvette clutch slave/master WITHOUT special tools.

the Pheonix tool is a hand pump that will force fluid up the line. attach a hose to the bleeder, once opened, and squeeze the trigger...
