LT1 Air filter
I have a 1996 LT1 vert. I have been told that I do not need to get a K&N filter. I can take the box and just cut out the plastic and get the same effect as the K&N filter. Is this true and if anyone has done it what is the best way to do it.

I bought the pre-cut lid from MAD since I wanted to keep the stock part. Here's what it looks om a 92. I've also added a K&N since then.
