Default 84 02 sensor

Found the 02 sensor broken hanging under the car on my 84. The hex shaped part is still in the exhaust pipe. It looks real rusty though. I guess since its already broke off I can get a socket on it. But Im afraid I might break that exhaust pipe.

With that part hanging there theres a big open hole in the exhaust pipe I guess. Between that and the vss wires broken off Im sure Im lucky it runs.

With the stem broken off, you probably don't need clearance, but
if you can't swing a drive with a 7/8 socket, this socket will work:
(some PB Blaster may help)

A good fitting box wrench works great, try to move it if it will not move, spray it with PB blaster and run the car.

Then spray it again, when you do get it to move, if it turns so far and stops, spray the PB blaster on the threads and then spin it back in.

If it is stubborn coming out run it in and out, as you do this it will clean up the thread and knock off what is sticking it.

Most of the time once you get them moving they will be fine, heating the exhaust helps expand the bung allowing the sensor to turn out.

Wonder if I can reach it without raising the car I haven tried jacking up the car yet since I got it.

I do have a 7/8 wrench I cut short to adjust the clutch on my other cr with, and a sidewinder I could use once its loose a little.

Do you put any kind of sealer or tape or anything on the new one before you thread it in? Is the connector tricky to disconnect?
