It appears I may be needing new catalytic converters. Anyone every replace theirs, if so what brand and where did you purchase them.
I have a '94 6 spd if that makes any difference. Thanks.

You have a different setup than I do (LT1 vs. L98), but I found that the front Y pipe made by Magnaflow is the only one that is approved for use in California for L98s.

The last time I had a smog check the guy spent a LONG time looking at the front cats. I guess being new caused him some concern. Supposedly they are stamped on the bottom with some magic number issued by CARB (I don't remember looking).

Well, she passed but barely on the HC's. 55 of the allowed 59 for the 15mph test. 27 of the 34 l=allowed on the 25mph test.
Guess the 02 sensor had to go through a few cycles.

Don't know if a Y cat would work on my car. Mine have the dual exhausts running independent of each other all the way to the rear. Cat on each side but no cross pipe. All stock from the factory.

I used a pair of Flow Master direct fit cats on a 94 recently. They fit good and seemed to be a decent quality. Summit sells them for around $180 a side.

Being in CA, don't you have to use only direct (OEM-style) replacement cats or those that have a CARB number? That will limit your choices.

I would recommend just using factory cats as they flow fairly well and they will pass both the sniff test and the visual test.
