Some of the clearcoat is flaking off in a couple places on my '95's factory saw blades. Also, have a few scraped places on the rims more like where wheel balance weights once might have been pressed-on.
Is it possible for a good tire and wheel shop to remove the old clearcoat and put on new clear coat? Repair the nicks on the rims? I like the look of the stocker wheels and would rather put the $$ into other mods than new wheels if I can get them refinished at a reasonable price somewhere.
I had one rim on my 95 that had the clearcoat flaking off and it just looked awful. Took it in and had it repaired for $130 and it looks like new. They said they'd do all four for $400.
For $100 a wheel, I had my stock wheels polished. He fixed the bad curb rash that one of them had. I did not have the clearcoat reapplied because it would end up dulling over time because of pitting. I did this when a couple of my wheels had the clearcoat peeling.
