Reason: spelling mistake
Corvettes should not have bouncing suspension..
Shock absorbers control the spring and suspension movement over rough roads, you can test how well they work by pushing down a corner of the rear and checking the car stabilizes right away. If the car moves up and down a lot your shock absorbers need replacing.
The standard setup works well, you can however tighten it up with coilovers. single adjustable for the street or double adjustable for the track. They can really improve the ride and setting the ride height is easily done with a turn of the spanner.
I'm saying i've "installed" brand new out of the box Bilstein's and obviously they made the car way better than before, but again when i hit a bump on the road she don't absorbs it and seems to jump aside...Now with fresh 255/50zr16 BF Goodrich situation is better ,softer feeling over rough asphalt but i'm not satisfied
To smooth out the ride in my 96' I made a few changes. I replaced all the rear alignment rods with a set of Heim Link rods from Banski. I then replaced all the other rubber parts front and rear with Poly. Next I put on a set of QA-1 single adjustable shocks front and rear. With the shock set on level 3 of 12 I get a very smooth ride over most road conditions. The Banski set frees up the rear so it can react quicker and keep the tires on the road where they belong. I did get a little extra body roll around tight curves and replaced the sway-bars with the next size up. Now it handles better then it ever did and still gives me a fantastic ride. I get no sideways hop when going over rough street or even railroad tracks. No more slowing down to go over tracks, just drive over them. The 96's do have the softest springs ever put on a C4 so they also help with the smooth ride. If you want to get rid of that sideways hop I recommend the Heim Link rear rods. Not sure on earlier models that have stiffer springs but they made a world of difference on mine.
