help! first time corvette owner asr & data connector issues
good morning everyone im Jon i just rcently purchaed a 1995 corvette has about 88k and ran and drove fine when i purchased it but now i have 2 issues i need direction on please. i get a service asr asr off and check engine light altogether and then eventually the check engine light goes out. when this happens i have very poor performance a little stumbling i call it around 2000 or so rpm and crazy hard snap your neck transmission shifts. i can shut car down and restart and it seems ok until light comes on again and it is very random it can happen 10 times in a row or take half a day. second part i have access to both gm scan tool tech 1 and tech 2 tech1 connector wont fit because the car has an obd 2 connector when i connect a tech 2 i have no communication to the scan tool can anyone help. i also ordered a new throttle position sensor off ebay and changed it it seemed to get better for about 2 weeks but went back to the same problem thank you
Check for blown fuse. Do you have FSM? FSM should have chart related to scanner no communicating with car. Can you get codes by jumping pins in ALDL?There is a connector end for TECH1 to fit 16 pin ALDL . OBD2 was out about a year before Tech2 was ready. Some PCM codes can disable ASR / TCS systems. If Tech2 is not powering up not all OBD1 cars with OBD2 ALDLs have 12v power source for scanner so you may need acc. 12v cable.
I jumped connector I have h41 h54 h22 h64 h65 h72 and c22 and im not sure what FSM is sorry can you explain please and thank you
FSM is Factory Service Manual.
Someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in here about the dreaded H41 error code…
[ EDIT ] Oopsie. I opened a new tab for this thread and finally got to it after vetteoz posted his answer. His answer wasn't there when I posted. [ /EDIT ]

With the codes you have you need FSM. One is a data line failure which could be why scanner doesn't read data. There is also a TPS code which could cause your drivability and ARS troubles. Until you can get manuals: I suggest to check condition of TPS connector- make sure it firmly connected, not corroded, and wiring isn't chaffed. The other is make sure ground wires are clean and tight. You may need to get under car to get to some.
Check for a bad TPS, or broken wires to the TPS. A problem there will cause the computer to disable the ASR. When that happens, you no longer have computer controlled tranny shift points, which will give you the hard shifts.
My 96 LT1 did the same thing. One of the TPS wires was broken in half inside of a factory taped portion of the harness. The other was broken at the connector, but the insulation was still intact.
I was able to clear all codes by disconnecting battery and touching terminals together then I when to asr connector and tps connector pushed them in pushed wires down in connector and drove to work today no lights I then met my friend who was a chevy gm tech for 15 years he has a tech 2 with the tech 2 powered at car battery with alligator clips we got the car to communicate only code in history was 22 for low response tps I fooled with wires again more pushed in tight he cleared code I drove home car seemed fine no codes yet not sure what to do about wires and connectors but for now im leaving it I will post again if codes appear thank you all
