So I was thinking about doing a conversion over the winter on my 1991. Not sure if it will actually happen... but was looking for some feedback from people that have done a conversion. Is it a nightmare to do? Are there any computer issues I may run into? Is it worth the time an $$ involved? what exactly is involved/what are all the parts etc. needed besides the obvious.
Since you actually asked the quoted question..... LOL
In most cased it would be cheaper to sell your car and then buy a 6-speed car.
You'll have way to much in the car to ever sell it and at best with a swap done, you might get half of what it would bring factory, even with the slush box.
I have done the swap on my 95. If I had used all stock parts I could have done it for less than $1500. I did not run into any issues. I had a lot of work into my car already, so selling it to buy a completely stock, wore out six speed car would have been stupid. If you have a nice car and can do quality work, theres no reason not to do the swap.

Yes there is nothing original on this car I just put in a new 396ci stroked motor in and the car has 46k original miles. I don't plan on selling it since I have had it for 8years already and have done a ton of work to it. Where did you get your parts and what kind of power are you able to support with your set up?
if you have a D44 already you should be able to get everything for 15 to 1600. It is a lot of work and from it sounds like you like me have a lot invested already. I was able to get a "kit" for 1500 but did not like what the tunnel would look like so got a tunnel for a 6spd for 65.
It will take a lot of time and if you are considering any interior work it would be a good time for it also as you will need to remove the seats and carpet to do the tunnel work.

thanks,
I pieced all the parts for my swap from several sources. I had a new transmission from several years ago, Mcleod street twin, new slave cylinder, used bellhousing, and bought part of the floor to swap in. I put it all behind a 383 LT4 that is awaiting a D1-SC procharger. So far its held up well, but I've barely gotten any miles on the engine at this point. Should be in the 600-650 rwhp range when finished.
There is a seller on ebay (fparts) that sells a lot of salvage parts and I had good luck with them for my dana 44 swap. I would recommend at least checking with them to source your parts.
