Default Water Pump question

O.K. would you go with the Edlebrock Alum. Hi-perfromance for 69.00 or the Stewart Hi-Flo for 105.00?

I have the Stewart with no problems. That is cheap for the Edelbrock.

Can the hi flow be used for a stock radiator, or do you need to modify the coolant system to be able to use it?????

At Corvette Central, do a search on cooling system for an 85'. Look at the next to the last item. I'm calling to verify the price.

I have to believe that's a misprint and should be $169 for the Edelbrock. They only make one for the C4 and it's a Victor Series #8815 and even Summit Racing sells it for $157.

I'm assuming that the edelbrock and Stewart will move more water faster than the stock water pump. Is that correct????

The problem that I am having is that while driving, my car runs really low temps right around 200, but when I stop at a light the temps jump up to 220 - 230, and then I have to drive for awhile to reduce the temps....

I am guessing that a water pump that can circulate the water faster while at idle will help keep the temps lower while stuck at a light.....

Correct me if I am wrong on this one.....

Look here for a comparison of the Stewart and Eldrobrock pumps: http://www.stewartcomponents.com/ede...comparison.htm

I have the Stewart on my 90 and love it. Installed the pump and cleaned the radiator and no more overheating problems.

Are you sure those price are not reversed? The Stewart Stage 1 is $69.00.

I don't know if I believe tests that one manufacturer conducts of another's hardware; also Stewart never mentioned whether they tested an Edelbrock Victor Series racing pump or one of the cheaper replacements.

But I do like Stewart pumps; if they just made a Stage 2 or 3 for C4's I'd have bought one. But all they have is the Stage 1 which is only a modified OEM casting and lacks the billet impeller.
