So I've been looking at replacement pipes on the c4s. Not any particular reason. Just searching and I saw that later model corvettes (lt1+) have different rear pipes than l98 cars.
Now I get that the lt1 is a higher revving motor and needs bigger exhaust but other than the diameter of the pipes is there any difference? For example wouldn't if make sense (for a cost effective "performance exhaust") to just buy long headers with a 3" collector and hook it to the lt1 rear pipes? Definitely have more flow than the l98 exhaust (on a slightly to moderately modified l98)
The Lt1 exhaust different from the L-98 exhaust, the L-98 has a front y pipe that goes into one cat then splits at the rear into two mufflers. the Lt1 has two cats just past the exhaust manifold goes into a center resonator then splits to two mufflers. you should be able to adapt a stock Lt1 exhaust to the older L-98 but they make a dual exhaust system that will bolt up to headers just do a search.

Reason: spelling
......... If you don't plan on using cats the LT1 system is the way to go ... you can get 2 3/4" or 3" mandrel bent stuff and get more flow capacity than any L98 will ever need ..... I picked up a complete used 3" B&B Stainless LTx system and put an x-pipe in place of the resonator , added some pipe to connect to my LT Hookers and almost immediately ditched the B&B mufflers for a pair of Flowmasters and have about $600 invested ... the only better flowing exhaust would be open headers ......... ..........
