Good Morning..... I have an 89 C4 base cp. Bought in September. Try to drive it once a week. Starts right up and idles fine when weather is warm. Since weather has changed and is much colder I've noticed my car will start right up however, it will stall several times. I have to rev it up and keep it at 1100-1500 rpm's till coolant temp is around 110 degrees.
After I drive it to "wherever" It will start fine. No stalling.
Any ideas as to what may be causing the excessive stalling when weather is cold?
I agree with everything the above poster said, except the CTS sensor thing. The computer will only go into closed loop when the IAT or MAT sensor reads 140 degrees and the CTS sensor reads 160.
I would start by cleaning your throttle body and checking the condition of your air filter.

I dont think this is right. The definition file for the bin has constants for the closed loop timer. Based on temp being hot, warm or cold, it will go into closed loop after the number of seconds programmed in at 104*.
if CTS reading higher than ambient temp ie....100 when actual outside temp is 30...ecm command would be be lean, on cars with cold start injector may not be turned on. EGR solenoid stuck on could also be a concern. Closed loop is more controlled by O2 sensor(s) and there is a default timer for O2 start working.
