Dont do it. :( Ive seen it many times that the trans will prematurley fail within 6 months of install.
The best way to go is upgrade your stall converter. I know Vigilante 3000 is great. Ask for JP on North east section. His user name is red96coupe. He will tell you the best autotrans setup that he has on his 95 LT1. He runs Mid 12s on a stock motor.
i have to completely disagree here. The transgo is a kit designed to correct factory flaws, and also gives the ability to increase the firmness of the shift. In every case the transmission will last longer with a transgo kit, ive never heard of one causing failure, unless the tranny was already dying, or the kit was installed wrong.
Now the b&m, thats another story, its known to break things, and i would avoid it like the plague, but the transgo should be a factory option.
I installed one in my 700R4 and have been completely happy. That was over two years ago. The TransGo is a quality kit and they do good customer support.
It is, however, a long and messy job. And as for their claim that it only requires standard tools, I guess that's right if you happen to have some long nose snap ring pliers! I made some out of a cheap pair of needle nose. :D
It does fix the first to second gear hang up, that is common with 700R4s. That was the reason I bought it.
Thanks for your opinions... It turns out my trans went up yesterday, of all the dumb luck.. the Clutch went up... I am having them put a performance clutch in and a 2600 stall converter with the Trans GO kit... should work out pretty well... Should I install a trans cooler? :seeya
