Smog in Arizona

Does Arizona have a smog check ? I've been told you go to the DMV and register and get your plates and stickers all in one stop... is this true ? Does your car have to be present for this ? What kind of inspection do they do at this time ?

Yes, if you are talking about Maricopa County (Phoenix metro area)... we have the IM240 (?) smog test. You will need to be smog tested every other year. You need to get the smog test BEFORE you go to the DMV for plates and tags. Smog test is something like $28-30 (I forget exact amount). Yes, your car needs to be present for the inspection. The inspection is only done once when you apply for AZ title.

Go into DMV first and tell them what you're doing. They'll give you all of the paper work up front. Reduces your head aches.
