Default DriveShaft U-Joint Life

I recently replaced the half-shaft u-joints on my 85. The bearings came out looking like dust. Really gone. Should I expect the same situation with the drive shaft u-joints? How long are they expected to last? The car has 120k miles on it now. Thanks!!!!

They last about the same time. I would replace them as well. I did all mine around 85,000 miles.

Thanks for the info. Should I expect the bolts holding the exhaust pipe to the manifold to break off when removing the exhaust system?

I've had the exhaust system off several times now -- no problems with bolts breaking. Just spray them with liquid wrench or simiar to loosen them up for you the night before. Get someone to help you with removing the exhaust as it is comburesome and heavy. Either that or use a jackstand to support it as you unbolt it.

Driveshaft u-joints last longer than the halfshafts do. They are under less stress and have less range of motion from the tranny to the differential.

I don't have it written up, sorry.

I would have to say that it depends on how the person drives it.. Shift kits, Power braking,Etc..........
