Default Need some suggestions on missing problem !

I have a dead miss on a 86 stock vette when I stomp on the petal. The engine will just act like it is fuel starved then die. Then sometimes when I drive normal it will surge bad and jerk all over the place then die. I can't even drive the car!!! It started out just missing now it gotten worse. I changed the fuel filter, took out the fuel pump and checked the filter on the end and it was clean, but I did notice the fuel was way down and not registering correctly on the guage..... filled her up put the pump back in and still have the same problem. I have replace the ECM a while back when it had an idle problem.

Put your timing light on it and goose the throttle and see if the timing moves quickly and steadily. This will prove that the timing chain isn't flapping and maybe jumped a tooth. Also, plug a spark plug into a wire and start engine and see if you have a hot spark. Weak spark can cause your miss. Pull a spark plug and see what condition it is in. At night look in the engine with it idling and see if there are any sparks from the plug wires, there shouldn't be any. Measure each plug wire with an ohmeter, they should be 5000 ohms per foot and not intermittent when you wiggle either end.
