Hey everybody just bought a 1990 convertible with 6 speed.
It has 150,000 miles and is a bit rough.
The price was right, anyway it's got a bad head gasket due to overheating.
The guy told me that he checked the fans and they work just not on their own. He jumped them. He ran a new wire from the sender.
Still not working though. Sender maybe?
Anyone fixed this problem before?
He also told me the Throw out bearing is beginning to make some noise.
When I get into that, with the 150,000 miles on it should I be looking into the transmission. I don't know how many miles they will do with out attention.
Also the air conditioning compressor is missing and has been replaced with a pulley only.
Also just curious where corvette people get the best deal on parts.
On a side note I also have a 1994 convertible with automatic.
I went to get a TPS at O'reilly auto parts, I asked for the part and was told they would have to order it and the price was like $80 something dollars. So I asked for the same part for the same year Camaro.
The guy told me ,Ya we got it , $28.00!!
Thanks in advance, Rick

There is no fan " sender" as such. The fans are controlled by the coolant temp switch which inputs the engine temp reading to the computer for all it's operations including fan control
More likely to be the fan relays or a wiring problem
check for 12

Check for 12V at the relay ,key off , if not the fusible link that powers them may be blown
The ECM runs the primary fan when the coolant reaches 228°, so you won't normally see it run. The auxiliary fan comes on at 238°, so you won't see that one run either. You're probably OK on the fans.
Fan relays are always hot, operation is triggered through the ground path. Primary fan runs when AC is selected without the AC operational the primary fan may not operate until engine temp is 228*. Depending on what was disconnected when the AC was removed, try the AC button the primary fan may run.
I connected the 2 fan relay ground wires together, both fans operate when AC is selected etc.
