I'm just running the Fel Pro Ultra Seals available from my local "Advance Auto Parts" store. They are the thicker type made of heavy material, not the thin copper type some people like.
Very simalar to "Mr. Gasket" Ultra Seal gaskets, but they were special order.
They work great for me on an LT1.
I have seen the thin metal ones leaking on other cars.
And I hate header leaks! :mad Make a Vette sound like an old farm truck!
You don't happen to have the part number do you? Are these typical Fel Pro exhaust manifold gaskets, or specific header gaskets?
No, I don't have a part# handy (but I'll look if I can find it)
Yes, They ARE just the standard exhaust manifold gaskets "Fel-Pro" sells and they fit great with headers also.
I am using copper ones too. Two engine assemblies (going on third) and they are still good. Just don't torque the heck out of the bolts. Next choice would be graphite type gaskets. Run of the mill header gaskets are a waste of money. Mine have not leaked but I have stock LT1 manifolds. Most if not all header installations will leak because of the expansion and contraction of the header flanges when the engine heats up and cools off.
