I just got replaced my shocks because they needed it and will be moving on to a new gear (thanx with the help with the shocks, btw  ). I need some suggestions though for which one. I wanna keep my automatic dana 36 and will be using this car as my day car with regular tires; no slicks.
Also, since I'm gonna have someone mess around with the tranny, I might as well have a shift kit installed as well. What brands are available for them? Anyone have any experience with them.
3.73 are a nice choice. With the 3.06 first in the 700r4 that gives you 11.41 gears ratio. That is about perfect. From what I hear you want to stay around 10-12.
I will warn you though that 3.73 have a smaller pinion and are more prone to failures. In your setup your probably not gonna phase it, but in the future it may play out.
If it is gonna give me some possible problems, what's another gear I should look at? I'm looking for better performance but not at the expense of durability.
What kind of a gain would a gear change give me? I don't wanna get my hopes up too much but it's gotta be better than what I'm getting now. My times are terrible in the 1/8 mile.
I went 3.54 on mine due to the smaller dia. pinion gear issue with the 3.73. I dont know how significiant it is but Justin at Zip said they stay together better. So I took his advise. Mine is all stock except for what you see in my signiture, My best 1/8 mile was a 8.45. I hear that the trans-go shift kits are the way to go if you put one in. I havnt done that, I am concerned that the harder shift would be hard on the rear end. But I feel sure there are others on here who could address that issue. One other suggestion is to call Zip and ask for Justin and explain your concerns to him. He really knows vette diff. Good luck.
