Hey guys, 1985 Corvette, on the passenger side behind the distributor, there is a single wire connector. Can anybody tell me what this goes to? Thanks!
The only single-wire connector I know of in that area is for the EGR temperature switch.
I believe the switch is located under the EGR valve on the intake manifold on your car. It's in a different location on my '86, so I'm not sure of your year.
What color wire ? The EST wire has a plug like that. Tan wire black stripe for that.
Good question! The wire color/s is critical for the ID of any connector and it's the information that very few supply. Sometimes in a multi-terminal connector it's good to know which cavities are populated with which wire colors. The cavities are normally easily visible and are "lettered".
The gender of the connector is NOT determined by the shell/housing but the actual terminal that is used. This one is a good example, at first glance you would assume maybe "male" because of the shell/housing BUT if you look closer you'll see that the terminal is actually a "female". When looking for a repair pigtail or connector you would need to be looking at "female" attributes.

I have an 85 intake, but 86 wiring. Is it dark green? if it is then it's for egr temp sensor. The other end of that plug will be on a 1 foot or so long wire that attaches to the sensor in the egr valve, in the center of the manifold under the plenum.
