I understand what you're saying, but I think it's misleading. Pin D15 is connected to ground on the cluster PC board.

The VSS is an AC motor operated as an alternator. When you measure the pins on the cluster connector you are measuring the resistance of the winding inside the motor. There is no polarity and both wires are isolated from everything else.

Exactly - and it's not misleading, that diagram is ONLY meant for use with the connector unplugged from the cluster, and is not intended to test the cluster, only the inputs.

did you get the GPS sender to work on the vette speedometer?
I am considering the same for my 91. I can't find new gear for the VSS.

You only need a driven gear? What tooth count? You need it for what tire size, transmission and axle ratio?

I havent gotten it to work yet I suspect my speedometer isnt working. I checked the output from the gps sender and its working.

For me, I think my next step is building a 3 digit frequency counter to attach to the output of the gps sender, and adjust the timebase to calibrate in mph on it. Attach the display on my dash, and maybe use a divide by 400 or 800 to get a pulse for every 1/10th mile and control a veeder counter or something similar, for an odometer.

You want to check with some "older" transmission shops. In the day when 700R4's were done several per week most kept the gears in stock OR if they did a ratio change for someone and used something other than then they put it in their stock. A 36 tooth white would have been a more popular one and maybe difficult but if you don't look you'll never know.

I'd post a WTB here in the "parts section" the 36 would have been something that would have been OE in some 2.59's and also some 2.73's so there's likely a chance that all you'll need to do is ask. You've got the information 36 tooth -white!

I have done many searches on part number and teeth number. Found it in lots of online shops but all say discontinued. Found 2 places that said they had it in stock, but when I ordered it, they did not.

Interesting every other tooth model is available. Do you know what error I would see with a few teeth difference? Probably a ratio of the difference in teeth. 36 to 34 teeth would be change speed by 36/34. Changing the driven is fail amount of work as you also have to change to driver for the teeth to mesh.

thanks for response, I am still looking.
