Noticed a whine on the clutch now. If I depress it just slightly it goes away and doesn't seem present while driving but it's hard to tell with the ragtop down anyways but I did notice it in neutral parked on at a friends house. Any ideas on what causes this?
You may be good to go to a clutch shop...... why wait, and take the
chance of being stranded?
Go ahead and spend the $3k and rebuild that noisy tranny while your at it. Thats peace of mind.
I have never had a high mileage manual that didnt make noise and never had a high mileage manual fail. I have replaced clutches but after they didnt work anymore.
I guess it would depend on your financial situation and how bad you hate the noises.

Yep, same as, never had one fail though even on cars with mileage that could be measured in light years!
