do you connect all connectors you loose before on the dist?
main connector
3 wire black connector on the cap
tach and batt connectors white and brown on the cap

if you don't have spark the BATT connector on the cap is disconnected...ceck it

Your right, just about any (Grd) bolt should work.. regardless of how well, or badly you set the timing there should be spark.. this is were the L98 guys need to step in, and give you harness/Dist testing guidelines, if you have the FSM it's time to dig in..

I have a 4 wire connector cooming out of the passengers side. I have a single yellow wire connector and a 3 wire connector both being plugged in on the drivers side and connecting into the top of the distributor. Are you still saying that I a missing a harness? Where do I go from here. I apparently don't have spark, per previous post.

Are you sure you didn't get the primary and tach wires reversed on the cap?

Put the rotor in the distributor before putting the cap on.

But to your credit, I just found the battery wire disconnected. I can't believe that's what I've been chasing. Thanks for helping a dummy.

I appreciate all of your help and investment.

To the haters: if we were all awesome mechanics, we wouldn't need a tech. section on the forum. Thanks to all of you patient teachers.

There are a total of four connectors to plug back in when re-installing the distributor. The four wire weatherpack connector that goes to the est, the three wire connector that plugs into the cap, and two single wire connectors that plug into the cap. The pink wire is power, and plugs in towards the rear of the car on the cap(it is labeled on the cap) and the other single wire is for the tach (also labeled on the cap) Make sure you did not get the two single wire connectors swapped.

Edit - Oops - missed the last page. Glad you got it!

Most of us have made mistakes 100x worse than what you just did. At least yours just cost you a day's work. Wait until you do something that really F's something up and costs $$$. The only way to learn is by doing, and you should be applauded for that. The dummys are the one's that will flash a credit card to change a windshield wiper.
