I'm talking about the pointy metal thing on the inside of the hood, with the spring around it. I couldn't budge it with a screwdriver, or vise grips! Seems like I'm having a little more cowl shake than I would like.
I you mean the two springs on each side of the hood, it takes a large wrench to lossen the base, then you can adjust the spring tension with a screwdriver. Be careful with the alignment, as it is a pain to get them set again. I marked mine before adjusting. There is a heavy duty upgrade that is available from GM that I used, made a big difference in vibration and stiffness for my 87.
I think I might need to adjust mine too. For some reason when I pull the hood release it doesn't pop, almost like there isn't enough tension on the spring to make it lift. I checked everything else and it seems fine. Just getting to be a PITA to pull the release and reach around and give the hood a tug to get it up. Any advice out there?
