What is a fair labor charge?
what is a fair labor charge to change all the u joints in my 92 no parts just labor
$280.00 he worked on the car almost all day removing the pipes and he claims the bolts were rusted like hell 96000 miles worth of rust.

It really depends on how long he actually worked on YOUR car. :rolleyes:
Here in Tampa, labor rates seem to be about $60.00/hr (+-).
If he really worked on your car "all day", I'd say that's cheap.
Actually, I think it's fair anyway (imho), but I'm still a newbie at this vette thing :)

You actually got something replaced on a Corvette for less than $300?
I think you did just great!
After thirty years in the automotive repair business, a corvette is the last car on earth I like to work on for money. They are terrible hard to work on, they tend to be rusty as hell, and no offense intended, but the owners seem to think they know more about the work than the mechanic does (and some probably do, knowing the quality of many mechanics now days!!!!).

A fair labor rate is dependent on where. Around here $65 is about the lowest you can find. It took me about 4 hours to do the u joints on the half shafts. (First time, at home, with no help)
