engine won't crank after holley commander install.
I'm sure its some safety measure the computer is putting into effect.... the holly controls all engine management but the cranking system still has to function to get the ball rolling. I have wired the thing without removing the original harness just to get it running before I do an official install. How can I trick it into letting me use the starter?
Is the computer stopping me from using the starter or is there a connection that has to be made like the clutch safety switch?
can it be vats since I am still usiusing my key? It can't be oil pressure switch cause it hasn't started to crank... could I disconnect my original ecm and it would solve the problem or get rid of vats?
I'm really tired from the install and its giving me blue ***** doing all pre ignition checks then something dumb like this. Not thinking straight.

Stock the starter has no connection to the ECM or oil pressure.
Only through the VATS operated starter enable relay and the clutch switch.
Do you have power through each when key in START position
If VATS was operational prior ,it should still function now regardless of what ECM you now have unless you disturbed the VATS wiring ?
Does the Holley system interface with the starter ( unlikely for standalone management systems )
I didn't mess with the vats system or at least that I know of. Everything worked prior. Security light comes on and stays solid while in the on position. Only thing I messed with other than all engine sensors like tps, iac, map, injector, dist, etc.... was I jumped the fuel pump wire to my existing relay.
Only thing that might have gone wrong is the vats box got jostled around a bit but I doubt it caused a problem. Is there a way to bypass the vats quickly since the vats no longer can hold the ecm hostage? I guess I just need power to the starter relay to hot wire it?
It was vats. Coincidence that it happened. After it sat a while I tried again fired right up. Now getting it to idle in closed loop is another story....
........... If you have a cam with a bit of overlap you can delay the closed loop to say 1200 rpm ... that's what I set mine at ... then tune the idle in open loop ... its in the 950 program ......... It helps if you have a wide band O2S ........
