I want to change my valve stem seals.
BUT.. I don't want to remove the cilinder heads !
How should I work... can someone send me some instructions?
After this is done, how do I set the valves?
And what sort of seals should I buy, is there a new type or can I use the original GM seals?
Hope that I receive some good help from the guys in the USA ;-)
When I did them (valve stem seals & springs) in my windsor motor I used a piece of rope about 3 feet long and fed it through the spark plug hole. Or you can use compressed air to hold the valves up. You do not want to drop one of the valves in the cylinder! :boxing
I assume you want to change them because the are leaking ???
If so...
You don't need to remove the heads, but you do have to break down the spring assembly. *If* I remember correctly someone on here said you could run each cylinder up to full compression one at the time & do them that way, but I would check on that to make sure I heard/remember right.
I got factory seals for like $1.25 each (in US dollars).
I'm not going to touch the setting of the valves. I'll leave that to the other on the group.
